Concept
The Abstract Art Features System reimagines mobility and body support as sculptural, tactile art integrated into the home. These pieces enhance the visual character of a space while quietly providing places to lean, rest, stretch, stabilize, or orient yourself.
What looks like abstract wall art becomes something you can touch, hold, and rely on — transforming aesthetics into agency.
Design Intent
Mobility supports are typically designed to be hidden or tolerated. This system makes them expressive, beautiful, and emotionally resonant.
By shaping grab points, massage surfaces, and resting ledges into abstract forms, the design supports the body without stigma — preserving dignity while elevating the sensory and artistic experience of the home.
User Experience
Each feature invites interaction and offers support in natural, intuitive ways.
• Abstract Art provides ergonomic handholds for balance and movement
• Sculpted surfaces offer tactile points for stretching and relieving muscle tension
• Horizontal elements create places to sit, kneel, or recline when rest is needed
• Artful shapes subtly guide navigation and wayfinding through the home
The result is a living environment where movement, rest, and expression coexist — support appears as art rather than assistance.

Research & Collaboration
Developed through Human-Centered Design research at the University of Washington and California State University, Long Beach. Work includes ideation, form exploration, and human factors analysis to ensure each piece is functional, intuitive, and emotionally supportive.
Next Steps
Full-scale prototypes, usability studies, material refinement, and manufacturing development are underway. We are seeking funding and manufacturing partners to bring these functional art systems into homes.
